c media roots engages local communities in the
production of social documentaries that unearth
reminiscent stories, share individual experiences
and offer insights into people's worlds.
c media roots supports emerging talent by
offering young people hands on participation and
training during productions in addition to
bespoke one to one training and apprenticeships
tailored to specific needs and interests.
“Stories From The Cut” is an example of a recent
project delivered through c media roots where
young people explored the history of the Leeds -
Liverpool canal and life around it, through
interviews, video reconstructions, digital
photography and music. The filmmakers live in the
Bradford area and are educated outside of the
mainstream school system. This project was funded
by Screen Yorkshire and Media Box, a scheme
funded by the Department for Children, Schools
and Families.
